Ultimate Interstates:Four Corners
California and Nevada would see a number of interstate improvements. The map below shows these various improvements. Solid Blue Lines indicate new free and purple indicates toll interstate routes. Corridor 11
Originating from Gila Bend, Arizona I-11 travels north into Nevada crossing the new Colorado River Bridge near the Hoover Dam. This interstate would replace existing US-93 and I-515 south of Las Vegas. North of Las Vegas the route will generally follow US-95 northward throughout the state north through Fallon. I-11 would be cosigned with I-80 from Fallon Junction to Winnemucca before continuing north along US-95 into Oregon. Eventually the route continues north toward Boise and Lewiston eventually ending in Spokane.
I-27 Extension
Ultimate interstate 27 extension has 2 proposed extensions,a North extension and a southern extension. The northern extension extends I-27 from Amarillo to Limon Colorado. The Southern Extension extends southward from Lubbock to either the Gulf Coast or the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo depending upon routing.
Corridor 32
Ultimate interstate 32 is a planned western segment of an Interstate Highway that would link Denver to the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area. This highway would travel through the cities of Wichita Falls and Amarillo Texas where it would merge with I-40. The planned western portion of that route continues I-32 northwest along US-84 heading to Raton, NM. where from there travelers could take I-25 north to Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Denver.
I-44 Extension
Ultimate interstate 44 extension has 2 proposed sections First the section from Wichita Falls to Lubbock and then the section from Lubbock to Las Cruces/El Paso, which has two possible routings.
I-70 Extension
From its existing terminus in Utah, this interstate would generally follow existing US-50/6 route to Ely. From there the interstate would continue west along one of two possible routes. From Ely the northern route follows along US-50 to Fallon and then ends in Fernley terminating at I-80. The southern route would generally follow US-6 toward Tonopah and Bishop connecting to I-11 and ending at I-9 where at some point it could be extended westward into California as a second interstate route to the California Central valley and Bay Area region.
Central Colorado
The Greater Denver metro region is growing significantly and so are other major Colorado cities such as Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Highways are becoming more congested in the region. Several "Ultimate Interstate" highway proposals in central Colorado would help make better connections to cities along the I-25 corridor and better connect the plains cities to the ports located on the Gulf Coast.
Central New Mexico
Interstate plans for central New Mexico incluse 2 new ultimate interstate routes that would make a better connection from I-40 to I-25 with the interstate system, making it easier for travelers to bypass Albuquerque when heading to Santa Fe or Denver Colorado. This would also get rid of backtrack miles on the interstate system and upgrade two specific US Highway corridors to interstate standards.
