The Ultimate Interstate 84 extension would extend I-84 From its current terminus in Portland continuing the interstate routing westward along US-26 ending at US-101 at the Oregon Coast near Seaside, OR.

Auxiliary Routes

Ultimate Interstate 484

Ultimate Interstate 484 would be the only auxiliary route assigned as a part of this corridor. This would be created by renumbering the existing OR-217 freeway as I-484 connecting to I-84 near Beaverton, OR.

Other Auxiliary Routes

Other Portland area auxiliary routes are possible as needed, however have not been designated at this time.

Purpose and Need

Since the corridor is already a freeway corridor with much of the corridor acceptable for interstate standard, the route should be designated. The designation of I-84 and I-484 would address continuity issues with the interstate system in Portland and the larger region.

Plausibility

Since the corridor is already a freeway corridor the designation would be logical but may be unlikely due to the tunnel at the east end of the route. Additionally some upgrades to the non freeway section of the corridor on the western end would restrict the interstate designation.
