Indianapolis Metro Visions

This page details recommended improvements for Central Indiana roadways (Visions) that are needed within the 9-county region that comprises the greater Indianapolis area. Below is a list of projects recommended by Indyroads to improve transportation in the area. Priority projects that need attention are:

Complete the Ronald Reagan Parkway	Avon, Brownsburg, Whitestown, Boone and Hendricks counties	construct a 4-lane parkway with limited access and landscaped medians with right of way allowance to widen further to 6 lanes if the need arises. Upgrading the Keystone Ave/Rural Corridor	Indianapolis (inside 465 beltway)	convert to a 6-lane urban parkway with limited access and landscaped medians.	Recommended By Indyroads.
US 36 "Rockville Parkway"	Avon and Indianapolis (west of I-465)	convert to a 6-lane urban expressway/parkway with grade separations and limited access, include landscaped medians. removal of two-way turn lanes. (See Keystone Parkway in Carmel as an example of success in this area.)	Recommended By Indyroads.
Washington Widening and operational Improvements	Indianapolis (inside I-465 loop)	Widen Washington Street to 6 lanes . synchronize Signals, add median	Recommended By Indyroads.
East 38th Street	Indianapolis	Upgrade East 38th Street Add medians (with landscaping), restrict some left turn movements. Widen to 6 lanes	Recommended By Indyroads.

There are other projects that can also be considered to help Indiana\'s transportation needs long term. Such as an interstate upgrade of US-31 North of Indy to provide another interstate highway connection northern Indiana (possible future Interstate 67).
